The 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B from Collection d' Elegance by TSM is scheduled to arrive November 2015. In the 1930's the Alfa Romeo 8C name was used on road cars, sports cars and race cars alike. The 8C variation in the name refers to the vehicle having an 8 cylinder engine. The 2900 series Alfa Romeo was designed to compete in sports car races in general but its primary focus was the Mille Miglia race. The 2900 used a 2.9 litter version of the 8C's inline 8 cylinder-engine and was accompanied by two roots type superchargers. The 2900B model used a slightly detuned version of this engine that had a stated output 180 bhp. This version came in two variations, the Corto (short wheel base) and the Lungo (long wheel base) which gave the purchaser options for the styling they preferred. In 1938 four 2900B Corto cars were prepped for the for the Mille Migila race. Three of these cars had their engines tuned up to produce 225bhp and the forth had an engine from an Alfa Romeo Tipo 308 Grand Prix car delivering 295bhp. Alfa Romeo had produced some of the best and most technologically savvy race cars for its time and to this day are still awe inspiring cars.
